  11. Last night, I decided to reinstall the system software in my
  12. Softkicked A3000 (running WB 2.04 with 2meg chip RAM and 4 meg
  13. fast RAM).  As far as I could tell, everything went fine with
  14. the installation.  However, when I rebooted, the machine guru-ed
  15. (8000 0004) before the startup sequence completed.

  17. After much investigations, it appears that said crash can be
  18. invoked by any access to the ram: disk.  This also occurs when
  19. booting in 1.3 mode.

  21. After removing all references to ram: from my startup sequence,
  22. I can now boot my machine (in fact, I'm writing this using terminus
  23. on it right now).

  25. Can anyone venture a guess as to why accessign RAM: would crash
  26. my machine when everything else is apparently OK?
